Family

Before I had kids, I used to teach Kindy. I loved it. Once a year though, we used to do class photos. My beautiful assistant and I would pile out into the playground with twenty-two four year olds and try and convince them all to sit in the right spot, look in the right direction, and smile. Inevitably, someone (often multiple someones) would get upset, or not want to participate, and so we would be doing our best to convince everyone to cooperate, while also trying to look presentable ourselves. In every single class photo, I am smiling in a slightly manic, strained way, while bouncing one or more little people frantically on my knee in hopes of producing a smile. Family photos can be very similar.

So let's not do that! What I'd love to do for you is to capture your family, just as they are. No forced smiles or posing, just you and your kids, enjoying each other's company, hanging out and playing together. When you look back on these photos, five, ten, twenty years from now, I don't want you to be thinking about how stressed you were. I want you to be reminded of the cute, quirky thing your daughter used to do as a toddler, or the crazy faces your son used to pull, or the home you lived in. I want you to feel the warmth and love radiating out of that photo and pulling you back through the years. This moment won't come again, so let's capture your family, as they really are, right now.
