I'm Kaity. I'm a lifestyle photographer based here in the beautiful Gympie Region.
I'm also a wife and mama to two beautiful boys, who just won't stop growing. Bird + Bear was born from that constant feeling of wanting to freeze time in that moment of chubby cheeks, and dimpled hands covered in finger paint. The time machine hasn't worked out (yet), so I started taking photos, and now I'd love to do the same for you.
Let me capture your kids as they are right now, exploring the world, making messes, and marching to the beat of their own drum. What should I expect from a session with you?
I love photographing people in their element. Children at play, families soaking up the joy of being together. A session with me has very little "stand here and smile at the camera". It may however, contain any combination of the following: terrible dad jokes, dance-offs, grass stains, and finger paint, just to name a few. I want to capture your real lives and loves, whether it's preparing a meal together in your kitchen, chasing a toddler through the paddock, or throwing a ball for the dog. For that reason, I like to allow plenty of time for my sessions, so that everyone has the chance to take a breath and get comfortable.
Where will my session take place?
Your session can take place anywhere within an hour of Gympie, but I especially love photographing people in their own environment. Got a pretty backyard, or a well-lit family home? What should I wear?
Firstly, I want you to be comfortable for your session, so choose clothes you feel good in. Secondly, aim to avoid anything too distracting, like big prints or logos. Third, try to consider how all the pieces will work together. When I'm having photos taken for my own family, I like to lay everyone's outfits out on a bed so I can make sure all of the colours and prints will play nicely together. Feeling stuck? Can we include our family dog/guinea pig/emu?
Absolutely! As long as the location is suitable, pets are absolutely welcome. Another reason I love to photograph families at home.
Do you travel further afield?
The short answer is: possibly? I'd love to photograph your family, however I am also a mama to two small humans, so of course that comes with certain time constraints. Your best bet is to contact me and I will do my best to make it happen for you.
I'd like to print my images. Can you help?
Absolutely! Images from our session together can be comfortably printed up to 12" x 18". I can help you out with a range of print options directly from my online store, or you are welcome to print your downloaded images with the printer of your choice.
